Sample application gallery
These diagrams show the shape of the applications you get with the kit. Each one is a working project, not a mockup.
Customer service application, two ways
The main sample is built twice. The first copy drives its data with the SqlDataSource control, where the query lives on the page. The second copy drives the same data with the ObjectDataSource control, where the query lives in a C# class. Same screens, different plumbing, and that contrast is the point.
Screens in the customer service application
- A sign in page that guards every other page.
- A search page with several criteria fields.
- A results grid that lists matching orders.
- A detail view that shows one order and its notes.
- A note form that inserts a new row.
- An edit form that updates an existing row.
The bonus application
A shopping cart sample is included for extra practice. It adds a second set of C# and server control examples without adding a second setup task, because it uses the same database.
Documentation style
Each application ships with a table of contents, step by step setup notes and an explanation of how errors are handled. The aim is that you never have to guess where to start or what a file is for.
