Why did I create the Beginner Web Site Kit?
Because I wish somebody had given me the kit when I started learning ASP.NET web programming. It would have been awesome to have a practical resource that I could have practiced with and referenced when I wanted it. There were so many things that I could have learned and been able to use at my job, at school or even at home on my fun side projects. In fact, even after I was programming for a while, I still could have benefited from having the sample web sites because there were many techniques in there that I was never exposed to on my own.
Design description of the sample web sites in the kit
The sample web sites in the kit were designed to be an application for a fictitious Internet toy company. The company’s customer service employees can lookup information about customer orders, take notes about problems the customer is having with their merchandise, modify their orders and more. The sample websites contain a variety of web pages and each page demonstrates a different set of ASP.NET and C# techniques.

Both of the two main sample web sites implement the same business functionality, but each are written using a different ASP.NET database programming framework so that you can learn both techniques and use the one that works best for you. Both web sites use a combination of C# code and ASP.NET data control techniques. The first sample web site demonstrates the SqlDataSource data control. The second sample web site demonstrates the ObjectDataSource data control.
